Intersil has introduced a family of dual 2:1 multiplexers that enable the transmission of quality audio, video and high-speed USB data through a single input/output port, eliminating up to two ports on each portable device The move to fewer I/O ports is well demonstrated by the recent launch of Apple's iPod Shuffle, which uses a single 0.125in jack for USB and headphone connections
