The Elantec EL4511 is the world's first IC capable of separating synchronisation signals in high definition television systems

The Elantec EL4511 is the world's first IC capable of separating synchronisation signals in high definition television (HDTV) systems. The EL4511 automatically detects and accepts synchronisation from multiple video and data sources, saving designers expensive sync detection and decoding software and hardware in DTV, HDTV, data and video projectors, and broadcast video equipment.

"The latest addition to our Elantec video and flat panel display portfolio not only supports traditional video and data applications but is the first part of its kind for high definition television", said Sameer Vuyyuru, Director of Marketing for Video and Op Amps for Intersil's Elantec Product Group.

"It can automatically detect and lock onto incoming video and data sources with line rates up to 200kHz, supporting not only HDTV, but DTV, component video, NTSC and pal composite video and PC display.

As a leading supplier of ICs for flat panel display and video applications we continue to expand our portfolio for customers, and this new device gives them the ability to add competitive differentiation within their products".

The Elantec EL4511 accepts sync on green, separate sync and H/V sync inputs, automatically selecting the relevant format.

It has been designed for compatibility with a wide range of video standards, operating with horizontal line rates from Pal/NTSC/Secam rates up to 200kHz and including bilevel and trilevel sync standards.

It includes a qualification scheme that rejects high frequency noise and other video artefacts such as colour burst.

The EL4511 optionally offers a serial interface for selecting auto standard detect or forcing standards, and enables read-back of line rate, line-per-field and field rate information.

It offers small package options and operates on 1mA typical supply current over the full -40 to +85C temperature range.
