Power solution energises
Pentium 4 boards
Intersil has developed a complete power solution for Intel i845 chipset motherboards using Pentium processors and low-cost or double-datarate (DDR) SDRAM
Intersil's Endura products and reference designs offer a complete solution specifically for direct power control for the Pentium 4 processor, i845 chipset and all ancillary power systems across the motherboard. They fully comply with Intel's VRM specifications and their four-phase design results in 80% efficiency and load currents up to 160A.

It includes the world's only four-phase controller with a 0.5% voltage reference specification that exceeds the requirement for next-generation Intel Pentium 4 processors.
The i845 chipset for Intel Pentium 4 processor motherboards is in growing demand especially in consumer markets as it allows the use of lower cost SDRAM modules and DDR SDRAM to reduce the initial cost of the computer and subsequent memory upgrades.
Intersil's solution is not only highly reliable and efficient but also relatively insensitive to layout and can therefore be easily implemented on multiple motherboard designs or migrated to new designs thus offering substantial additional savings in engineering and time.
Intersil's total power solution for i845 chipset motherboards includes the Endura HIP6301 or HIP6311A multiphase PWM controller with HIP6601A or HIP6602A MOSFET drivers for all processor power control.
It also uses the HIP6500 series multiple-output Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) controllers and ISL6500 regulators for all other onboard power requirements including the i845 chipset, memory modules, graphics card and PCI slots, I/O ports, and peripheral devices.
