Marantz, one of the leading manufacturers of premium AV products, is to expand into the audio server market with a hard-disk-based music server developed in partnership with Imerge. Imerge's XiVA software, rapidly becoming the de-facto standard for the next generation of Internet-enabled hard disk media appliances, will be an integral part of Marantz's DH9300 music server. The product, with up to four high-quality audio outputs, an intuitive TV interface, and able to store over 1300 hours of music, will be showcased at CES in Las Vegas.
According to Takao Nakayama of Marantz: "Marantz has recognised that there is a rapidly expanding market for hard disk based home entertainment systems.
Marantz's audio expertise, combined with Imerge's XiVA technology, will allow us to quickly bring a product to market and establish Marantz as a leading name in this field".
XiVA technology comprises embedded software and hardware reference platforms that power the next generation of networked hard-disk-based media appliances, such as the Marantz DH9300 music server.
XiVA makes it easy to receive, record, store, manage, and access locally or remotely, vast amounts of digital entertainment content using cost-effective and versatile hard disks as the primary storage medium.
From a home entertainment basis this gives revolutionary multiple access to any digital content, from any room in the house, at the same time.
A new Internet-based entertainment service, XiVA-Net, is designed to work together with any XiVA powered media appliance to deliver personalised content and exciting services direct to the user.
Steve Croft, Head of Technology Licensing at Imerge commented: "We are extremely proud to be working with Marantz and their decision to become a XiVA partner further strengthens the position of XiVA as the leading technology for CE companies looking to develop next-generation home-entertainment products".
