The Ikonvergenz production-ready integrated digital TV (IDTV) has received full compliance with the MHEG-5 v1.06 UK Profile Specification

The IDTV solution was verified by DTG Testing and meets the minimum MHEG-5 v1.06 criterion to achieve the Digital Switchover Certification Mark. Digital UK introduced the Digital Switchover Programme to increase public awareness as UK's television broadcast switches from analogue to digital transmission.

The 'Digital Tick' certification scheme allows consumers to identify televisions that are designed to work before, during and after the digital switchover.

The minimum criterion for TV manufacturers to attain the certification mark in UK since 1 September 2006 is the UK Profile of MHEG-5 v1.06 as determined by DTG MHEG test suite.

TV solutions not compliant to MHEG-5 v1.06 will face issues related to interoperability, as well as limited feature enhancements in aspect ratio control, subtitle support and HyperText.

'Since the implementation required in September 2006, many companies are still struggling to be compliant with the new UK Profile v1.06 standard'.

'Ikonvergenz is proud to be one of the first few to be 100% compliant and officially certified as MHEG-5 v.106 profile provider', said Torsten Frings, Managing Director of Ikonvergenz .

'The mark of compliance from DTG Testing will provide our customers the assurance that Ikonvergenz is able to offer a qualified complete IDTV solution that is immediately ready for production'.

The IDTV solution by Ikonvergenz allows any TV manufacturers to address and mass produce immediately for the DVB-T market, especially UK, with minimal investment, time and resources.
