According to Ines, anyone can create their own embedded PXI controllers using the new POK-900 PXI controller kit. The user has only to connect a standard ETX processor module from Advantech, Jumptec or iBASE at the left side of the PXI card and a standard 2.5in hard disk on the right side of the card. Using the new Advantech 800MHz ETX designers can create a PXI controller boasting an 800MHz speed and 256Mbyte memory for only Eur1800.
The controllers are futureproof and can be upgraded to higher speeds just by replacing the ETX module (1.2GHz modules are under development) with no further modifications to hardware or software.
The POK-900 costs Eur1295 and offers all necessary interfaces like GPIB, Ethernet, USB, COM, LPT, VGA, keyboard, mouse and PXI trigger control, including all drivers for LabView, C/C++, Windows and Linux.
