In just three months, the Nonconforming Parts Board established by the Independent Distributors of Electronics Association (IDEA) has reached over 1200 listings. Updated daily and easily accessible via the Internet, IDEA members use this valuable resource to help ensure they do not fall victim to substandard or fraudulent parts. 'With more and more IDEA members taking advantage of the Nonconforming Parts Board, we fully expect the number of listings to double, if not triple by the end of the current year', said Nick Davis, IDEA President.

'IDEA members will wonder how they ever got along without it', he added.

A comprehensive and indispensable tool, the Nonconforming Parts Board has protected IDEA members since its inception in September 2004.

As nonconforming parts are identified, members are instantly alerted of their existence and are thus able to keep track of substandard components circulating within the independent distribution channel.

Created especially for independent distributor-members of IDEA, the Nonconforming Parts Board is easily accessible on the IDEA website.

Users can track items by the manufacturer's name, individual part number, production date and lot code.

The database also includes the reason the product is nonconformant.

IDEA members actively post items to this board, and are encouraged to continue adding to the listings by following the simple instructions provided on the site.

'As independent distributors, it's up to us to help legitimise our industry and reinforce to our customers that we are doing all we can to protect ourselves from nonconforming parts that put a dark cloud on our industry', said Davis.

Listings on the Nonconforming Parts Board are provided by IDEA members and are submitted anonymously.
