Acquisition system combines
USB with Linux
Incite Technology has developed the world's first USB based data acquisition device that runs under Linux, a combination that gives it the name USB DUX
Those who work with data acquisition and control are familiar with the advantages of using the USB port - it has its own power supply, you can plug it in and out with the power still on, it is clocked and fast for accurate, real time acquisition, and it has built in error correction. Now the Linux community can enjoy these benefits along with the advantages that make Linux so popular.

The USB DUX will be of great interest to: the Linux and open source community; measurement, control, and monitoring engineers; chemical, materials, biomedics and robotics researchers; and electronics hobbyists and home automation enthusiasts.
Kevin Swingler, ITL's CEO, said: "The combination of USB and Linux is obviously the best for data acquisition.
The power, speed and ease of use of the USB port coupled with the ease of programming that Linux provides makes it the obvious choice for measurement and control".
Bernd Porr, Head Engineer on the USB DUX project told us: "We are committed to the open source ethos, and making our new device driver available freely is important to us.
This is why we are using the Comedi framework to allow people access to the driver source code".
The USB DUX comes in a simple D-connector version for GBP 270 and a version with 14 BNC connectors and two K-type thermocouples is available for GBP 490.
