Navitek is a comprehensive handheld network diagnostic tool that empowers IT professionals, facility management personnel, and installers to identify and correct common problems related to the physical layers of local area networks (LANs). Navitek is the ideal network troubleshooting tool for identifying port services (Ethernet, ISDN, POTS and token ring), confirming network connectivity (ping and hub blink), and obtaining network performance data, in addition to wire-map tests for verification of the physical installation. "Designed primarily for in-house network administrators and datacomms installers, Navitek is a comprehensive first-line tester capable of performing step-by-step network troubleshooting and administration tasks", explains Tony Kumeta, Business Manager, Ideal Industries.

"Navitek provides a portable, flexible and cost effective testing solution across Ethernet network environments.

According to recent surveys approximately 70% of network downtime can be attributed to faulty cable and connections.

By improving visibility at the physical layer, Navitek enables in-house technicians to easily and efficiently troubleshoot network connectivity problems, thereby reducing costly downtime".

The tester will verify the integrity of the physical cable network, determine if the network ports are enabled for services and verify active network connectivity for troubleshooting and moves/adds/changes (MACs) administration.

With the launch of Navitek Ideal extends its capability from passive to active testing, and can now offer a complete portfolio of testers to support passive cable network testing, LAN cable certification to standards, and active LAN testing.

Idealūs customers can find a full range of cost effective and efficient testers to meet their premise testing needs.

A standard Navitek active network test kit, for passive and active structured data cable network testing, contains eight remotes and cable accessories.

The standard kit retails at GBP 345.00 and will be available from May 2004.
