Integrated Device Technology reckons it has furthered its leadership in multiport technology with the introduction of the industry's fastest and lowest-powered synchronous FourPort devices

At speeds up to 200MHz and power consumption as low as 230mA, IDT's synchronous FourPorts enable customers to achieve a 40% increase in bandwidth relative to competing solutions. These latest additions to IDT's multiport product portfolio strengthen the company's support for high-performance applications, including fibre channel line cards in storage area networks (SANs), baseband applications in the wireless communications infrastructure, and header lookups in network switches.

IDT's synchronous FourPorts, which are available in 1Mbit (64K x 18) and 500Kbit (32K x 18) densities, provide independent read and write access to up to four separate processors/buses simultaneously in different frequency domains.

The combination of the device speed with this architecture offers designers an unprecedented 14Gbit/s (200MHz x 18bit/s x 4) of data throughput per FourPort product.

In addition to a 272-pin BGA, the products are available in the smallest 256-pin BGA package, offering designers board space savings of up to 60%.

IDT's FourPort devices deliver high-performance memory built-in self tests (MBISTs) that operate at up to 200MHz.

The MBIST operations run more than three-times faster than alternative solutions, requiring only half as many cycles.

Additionally, IDT's FourPorts provide enhanced functionality of counter controls and mask registers, resulting in optimal flexibility for counter-mask operations.
