iBiquity Digital Corp has released new reference designs for tabletop and home HD radio receivers. These designs will serve as the technical foundation for entry-level consumer HD radio products and are now available to all HD radio licensees. The reference designs provide a fast-track solution for consumer electronics OEMs looking to integrate HD radio technology into current and future AM and FM radio product lines.
'With much of the upfront design work completed, these HD radio reference designs will play an important role in lowering overall engineering expenses for consumer audio manufacturers and speeding time to market for new HD radio receivers'.
'These designs are also flexible enough to adapt to a wide range of audio products, including platforms supporting other digital radio products', said Jeff Jury, Chief Operating Officer, iBiquity Digital.
'We expect to see HD radio receivers using these reference designs to be introduced by manufacturers in time for the upcoming International Consumer Electronics Show in January 2006'.
iBiquity's HD radio reference designs use existing HD radio chipsets in a flexible, cost-optimised hardware design that is supported by standardised software drivers and simplified production testing equipment.
These initial designs will be followed by a planned series of HD radio reference designs intended to simplify the task of adding basic HD radio capabilities and new HD radio data features to current and future designs.
