iBiquity Digital has certified the Atmel T4260 RF tuner chip for use in automotive and home HD radio receivers. The T4260 is a complete front-end solution for both AM and FM reception. It is used to tune the radio and converts the signal into a frequency that the receiver can decode.
The integrated fast fractional PLL allows locking times of less than 1ms.
The flexible IF output frequency enables designers to adapt the IC to various customers needs.
'Over the course of the past year, HD radio technology has been widely acknowledged by broadcasters and receiver manufacturers as the future of AM and FM radio', said Roland Polonio, Atmel's Broadcast Radio Marketing Manager.
'We look forward to working with iBiquity and its partners to ensure HD radio products continue to meet the highest standards for audio quality'.
'We congratulate Atmel for meeting the stringent requirements of our Tuner Certification Plan', said Jeffrey Jury, Chief Operating Officer of iBiquity Digital Corp.
'The availability of another tuner design option is an important development in the rollout of HD radio technology as it will help receiver manufacturers get HD radio products to market faster and help reduce the associated manufacturing costs'.
