To increase service levels to end users, Hammond Electronics has appointed Phoenix Electronics Distribution to handle its entire range of die-cast aluminium, plastic and metal enclosures.

Founded in 1972 and located in Scotland, Phoenix is a well established distributor operating throughout the UK, providing technical support and ex-stock service to its wide customer base.

With strong franchises and a well-established position in the connector and electro-mechanical sectors, adding enclosures to the line card is a logical step to increase its served market; conversely, as Phoenix already has a considerable presence in the electronic and electrical markets, it is an ideal distribution partner for Hammond.

In plastic enclosures, Phoenix are one of the first distributors to offer the 1594RFI and 1599RFI ranges, moulded in a metal loaded plastic that gives attenuation levels of more than 50dB from 100 to 1000MHz.

The performance of the loaded material is far in excess of anything that can be achieved by spraying or painting a conductive layer onto a standard box.

Die-cast aluminium enclosures are another Hammond strength.

Specifiers who need rugged protection and RFI screening can choose from the entry-level Eddystone family, a robust, lightweight cost-effective range of IP54 enclosures, available with shallow or deep lids to give a choice of heights for each plan size.

The comprehensive 1590 range, available as a general purpose box, an IP65 waterproof enclosure or with flanged lids or bases features an excellent surface finish, lap joint construction and machine screw fixing into tapped holes.
