Handheld case makes a
home for smart card readers
Hammond Electronics has added an additional size to its 1593 family, optimised for housing a handheld smart card reader
The 1593N measures 110 x 75 x 25mm, a size designed to accept the great majority of the smart card readers currently on the market. Available in black or grey, the unit has a recess in the lid to take a membrane keypad or display module, and is supplied as standard with two separate types of removable end panel, giving a choice between either flush or recessed panels at both ends of the enclosure.

Optional infrared transparent panels are available to enable the reader to be used as a wire-free device and six PCB standoffs are moulded into the base.
The 1593 range of handheld instrument enclosures now consists of ten different sizes, ranging from 66 x 66 x 28 to 140 x 66 x 28mm.
Manufactured in ABS with soft rounded styling, most sizes are available with or without a battery compartment and a belt clip accessory is also available.
