The MP2000 is a novel two-board modular Ethernet encoder solution, based on the SC2010E/SC2020E MPEG-2 encoder modules from NTT Electronics, that enables the design of compact high-quality low-delay MPEG-over-IP solutions. To add to its versatility, optional modules also supports SDI (digital video) input and DVB-ASI output.

This latest design allows composite and s-video input (with SDI optional) and audio signal (SC2010E - one channel stereo and SC2020E - dual channel stereo) obtained from an external video source to be compressed in real time and then multiplexed into a true MPEG-2 transport stream (TS).
This TS datastream can then either be fed directly into an MPEG-2 decoder or converted into a TCP/UDP data packet for delivery to a decoder device through Ethernet.
The MP 2000 measures only 152 x 100 x 20mm and can work in full spec 422P@ML, MP@ML and SP@ML environments.
It demonstrates a TS output bitrate of up to 54Mbit/s (SPI and DVB-ASI output) and up to15Mbit/s (Ethernet).
Other features include the ability to control a camera source remotely through a serial port.
This would be particularly useful in surveillance applications and this control function also supports camera control including pan/tilt and zoom.
