Datamate male and female crimp jackscrew connectors can now have an extended rear wall, which enables customers to terminate the cables themselves as an alternative to overmoulding.

Harwin has increased the flexibility of its Datamate range.

The company now offers its male and female crimp jackscrew connectors with an extended rear wall, which enables customers to terminate the cables themselves as an alternative to overmoulding for applications where cost is the main imperative.

The deeper connector shell means that customers can fill terminated connectors with potting material which also resists the ingress of dust and moisture.

The Datamate range is a professional connector system that sells at commercial prices.

It is designed to conform to the requirements of BS9525-F00033 and features high reliability four-finger beryllium copper contacts that ensure integrity of connection without loss of data.

Products have been used successfully in the Bowman military radio system, the MBDA Seawolf air to air missile, and the A380 airbus.

Comments Product Engineer Mark Herbert: "The new extended wall jackscrew Datamate range mates with known industry equivalents and is the same as our standard product apart from the new backpotting facility".

"We believe our customers will benefit from the flexibility that comes from not having to procure high-price, overmoulded components".

"They will also enjoy superior connector performance, and can rely on the specialist technical backup that Harwin offers".
