Latching high voltage relays make sense
Gigavac has created ten new latching high voltage relays that are completely sealed and rated from 8 to 70kV

Gigavac latching relays consume power only when initial coil voltage is applied - which saves energy; the new models insure the relay will remain in the last position, even during power outages. In response to customer requests, Gigavac re-engineered 10 popular existing models to handle latching requirements: the Gigavac G12L (8kV) and G13L (15kV) latching relays are double pole, double throw, which make them ideal for reversing polarity or selecting between power sources or loads.
The Gigavac G2L, G8L, G15L, G60L, G61L, G62L, G64L and G71L latching models are single pole, double throw relays, rated from 15 to 70kV using vacuum or SF6 as the dielectric.
Vacuum is preferred for RF carry, and for make and break applications.
SF6 gas is best for capacitive make applications or where stable leakage current is needed for long periods of nonoperation.

According to Sales VP Jim Lanum: 'Latching high voltage relays make sense when power consumption is important'.
'Our new L-series of latching relays address this need because power is required only for a few milliseconds to latch the relay, and then will remain in that position until power is applied to the other coil'.
'This is also helpful because the relay will not change state during power outages'.
'As the industry expert, we are pleased now to offer more high voltage latching relays than any other supplier'.
Most popular models are in stock with special orders available within two weeks.
The prices of the new latching relays are 20% more than Gigavac's nonlatching models.
