Developed from its long-established military product range, Gresham Power now offers a family of DC/AC inverters for telecomms applications

Employing inherently low noise and high reliability technology the Salisbury based power supply manufacturer expects systems builders to find many uses for this product to provide high quality mains power from 48V DC powered systems. Three models are available rated at 250, 500 and 1000VA with nominal input voltages of either 48 or 24V DC.

AC outputs are user selectable between 110, 220, 230 and 240V AC at either 50 or 60Hz.

A 400Hz output model is available to special order.

The output waveform is a true sinewave with less than 5% total harmonic distortion and the output is protected against short circuit and overload.

The input is protected against reverse voltage connection and features automatic shutdown at low input voltage to protect supply batteries from damaging complete discharge.

The Quasar has internal fan cooling, thermal protection and operates over the temperature range from 0 to +50C.

Load regulation is typically 1% for a 0 to 100% load change and reliability is calculated at 90kh per MIL-HDBK-217E.

The Quasar inverters comply with EN60950 and EN55022-B and are designed to meet telecomms psophometric noise requirements of ETS300-132-2 when used with the optional QPF1000 filter module.

DC input connection is via stud terminals and the AC output is from screw connection strip or optional socket packs for IEC connectors or numerous international standard outlets.

The Quasar has a steel enclosure to IP20 and rack-mounting kits are available.

A remote on/off function is standard and an optional "monitor" card may be specified to provide indication of output OK, input OK, battery low, overcurrent and overtemperature.

Jake Moir, MD of Gresham comments: "Our experience of high reliability military power conversion has enabled Gresham Power to provide a cost effective, commercial solution, to providing mains power in a battery equipment environment for telecomms infrastructure providers".

Quasar inverters may be used in telecomms infrastructure, vehicle and mobile systems, security/power protection installations and as a low cost, high quality frequency converter for test systems.
