Platforms to follow multicore roadmap
GE Fanuc has already begun work on developing new products based on Cavium's recently announced 5400 and 5600 silicon.
GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms has formed a strategic relationship with Cavium Networks, and is set to create AdvancedMC, PCI-X, PCI Express and AdvancedTCA platforms based on Cavium's roadmap for its Octeon multicore MIPS64 family of high-performance low-power processors The company has already announced a range of products based on Octeon packet processing technology, including the Telum NPA-38x4 and NPA-58x4 high performance packet processor AdvancedMCs, the WANic 3850 and 3860 PCI-X high performance packet processors and the AT-5800 high-performance packet processor AdvancedTCA blade
