Gennum has a complete new DVB-ASI send and receive solution, comprising the GS7060 DVB-ASI deserialiser and the GS7062 DVB-ASI serialiser. This send and receive pair has been optimised for DVB-ASI. Both devices come in a small package (56-pin QFN), require low-voltage power supply (3.3/1.8V) and dissipate remarkably little power (estimate 350mW).

The transmitter and receive pair have the same footprint.

This feature allows the designer to implement a generic board design for inputs and outputs and then configure an I/O as either an input or an output by populating it with either a GS7060 deserialiser or GS7062 serialiser.

These parts feature a very high level of integration.

The deserialiser has an integrated reclocker.

Both the serialiser and deserialiser contain a built-in cable driver at their serial output.

In addition, they contain 8b/10b encoding/decoding and K28.5 sync character insertion/detection on chip.
