The first two members of the HD-LINX II family of devices for HDTV/SDTV multirate SDI systems from Gennum are the GS1524 multirate adaptive equaliser and the GS1528 dual slew-rate cable driver. Gennum's new GS1524 multirate adaptive equaliser will offer coaxial cable input equalisation for SD-SDI and HD-SDI interfaces from 143Mbit/s up to 1.485Gbit/s, supporting all SMPTE-259M and SMPTE-292M datarates. Automatically adjusting for cable length and for the frequency-dependant cable loss, the GS1524 will provide compensation for up to 140m of Belden 1694A at the HD rate of 1.485Gbit/s, and up to 400m of 1694A cable at 270Mbit/s.

Compliance to the differing output rise and fall time specifications of SMPTE-259M and SMPTE-292M will be possible for the first time with the new GS1528 dual slew-rate cable driver.

The GS1528 slew rate can dynamically switch between SD and HD modes, ensuring that equipment outputs pass acceptance testing against both the HD and SD standards.
