GDA Technologies is to offer a comprehensive set of Advanced Switching (AS) IP cores for both ASIC and FPGA implementations. The IP offerings include MAC, datalink and transaction layers and all the defined protocol interfaces: SLS, SQ, SDT and PI-8. In addition, GDA provides complete suite of FPGA, board and software design services for AS based products.
Addition of these AS modules significantly strengthens GDA's PCI Express (GPEX) IP family.
These IPs target native AS end point controllers, leaf and root bridges, AS switches and dual-mode PCI Express base/AS interface controllers.
By using GDA's reusable Advanced Switching IP cores and it's related AS services system designers can greatly reduce development risks and time to market for their next generation products.
"The ASI SIG has seen strong interest from leading companies to develop the building-block components required for the communications industry to transition from proprietary switched interconnects and data fabrics to the standards-based Advanced Switching switched interconnects", said Rajeev Kumar, President, ASI SIG and Advanced Switching Initiatives Manager at Intel.
"We expect availability of key enabling tools such as IP cores, such as those from GDA, verification IP, FPGAs and silicon starting in 2004 to enable the roll-out of full systems by the end of 2005".
The Advanced Switching specification is an extension of PCI Express interconnect technology.
It adds advanced communications features to PCI Express technology in order to meet the requirements of the next generation of networking, storage and communications solutions.
"We are dedicated to creating IP solutions with the highest quality", said Prakash Bare, Vice President of IP Business at GDA Technologies.
"Our GPEX IP family, a comprehensive portfolio of Advanced Switching and PCI Express IP cores, give our customers complete confidence that their next-generation products will be compliant to the specifications and interoperable with other AS and PCI Express solutions, while maintaining an aggressive time-to-market schedule".
The Advanced Switching IP cores will be available in Q4, 2004.
The GDA PCI Express (GPEX) IP core, AS MAC and datalink layers are available now.
