The MDX250 is a highly integrated multichannel Ethernet mapper for Ethernet over Sonet/SDH applications. The MDX250 is ideal for multiservice line cards and customer premise access platforms that are designed to offer high density 10/100 Ethernet and gigabit Ethernet service ports over Sonet/SDH. The MDX250 joins the MDX251 as the next in a series of value-added extensions for the MSF250, DSF250 and VersaNode products.
The MDX250 provides an efficient solution for channelised Ethernet transport by connecting seamlessly with next-generation Sonet/SDH framers supporting virtual concatenation (VCAT) and the link capacity adjustment scheme (LCAS).
The MDX250 was designed to interoperate with SPI-3 PHY devices, including Galazar's family of next generation Sonet/SDH devices that are currently in production.
The MDX250 doubles the Ethernet port density for Galazar's product family of PDH and Ethernet over Sonet/SDH (EoS) multiservice framers currently being deployed in carrier field trials with leading ADM and MSPP vendors worldwide.
"Our current customers can leverage their existing Galazar-based solutions to quickly deliver new product offerings with only incremental investments in hardware and software development", said Richard Deboer, CEO of Galazar Networks.
"The MDX250 is ideal for equipment providers who want to quickly double the Ethernet port density for their DSF250T based central office line cards or for their highly integrated MSPP customer located equipment based on the MSF250T".
The MDX250 target applications include multiservice cards for Sonet/SDH ADMs, WDMs, MSTPs, CPE/CLE terminals or metro core switches.
Galazar's framers are the world's first devices to simultaneously support mixed high order (STS/VC paths) and low order (VT/VC paths) virtual concatenation (VCAT) with LCAS.
These features increase a carrier's service offerings and revenues from the existing infrastructure.
Galazar provides a comprehensive support package for the MDX250, including datasheets, hardware reference designs, feature management software and design tools.
These allow customers to accelerate their time to market and focus on higher value activities.
The MDX250 is priced at less then US $100 in 10,000-unit quantities.
