Cryogenic treatment creates classic audio
Cryogenic treatment can be used to prematurely age audio valves, improving sound quality and increasing reliability
Frozen Solid Audio has been providing the highest level of DCT cryogenic service for around 8 years now. Cryogenic treatment, DCT or cryo is the process of cooling materials under microprocessor controlled conditions to -195C, holding them there for a 'soak' phase, and returning them to ambient just as carefully.

The benefits in terms of signal conduction are part of ongoing research by Frozen Solid Audio which has encompassed some of the biggest names in the industry, both audio related and in general and specialist fields of engineering.
Scanning electron microscope (SEM) pictures of the changes brought about through cryo can be seen on the company's website.
The process has been used in the hi-fi audio sector for some years.
Treating audio (vacuum) valves leads to a noticeable improvement in audio quality and increased service life.
The effect of the treatment is to artificially age the materials of the valve by removal of stress throughout.
This creates much of the tone of vintage classics from Telefunken, RCA and Mullard, but without the expense related to sourcing new old stock (NOS) components, which has become an expensive, and increasingly difficult search.
Frozen Solid Audio has used its DCT cryo process on a wide range of valves held by Watford Valve, supplier to Brian May of Queen fame, and other music professionals who need their vintage sweetness of 'choobs' without the worry of premature failure during a gig.
Reviews in 'Guitar Buyer' in April, and 'Guitarist' in May 2006 included quotes such as 'too cool for words' and agreed that the cryo treated valve variants had a tighter and more focused tone, and offered an inexpensive upgrade to standard valves.
Cryo treated guitar amp valves are used in the Brian May 'We will rock you' stage shows, and have recently been tested by David Gilmour, a guitarist who has always held sound quality as second only to his creativity and artistry.
It is forecast that as NOS stocks of original classics begin to dry up and attract prices more appropriate to collectors than end users, cryo-treated modern production items will offer all the tone and reliability of the originals, but for a fraction of the cost.
