A new version of the FarSync X.25 drivers for Linux is being released by comms product developers FarSite Communications.
The drivers have been developed for the FarSync X.25 T2P and T4P cards.
The major feature of this new release is a Linux Sockets compatible interface to the X.25 software.
This enables any developer familiar with networking software development on Linux to be productive with X.25 in the shortest possible time.
Developers are immediately working in a familiar way even if they are not familiar with X.25.
The new release also includes the ISO Transport protocol and support for a wider range of Linux distributions.
These include Red Hat, SuSE, Mandrake, Debian and Slackware.
Kernel versions 2.2 and 2.4 are supported.
The new release will ship as standard with all new cards and is also available for download at no charge to existing customers.
The FarSync T-Series X.25 card range comprises a competitively priced intelligent two-port card, the T2P, and a compact intelligent four-port card, the T4P.
Both are capable of driving lines at speeds of up to 2Mbit/s (T3/E3 datarates) with support for RS232C, X.21 and V.35 network interfaces.
In addition to the Linux Sockets interface, the X.25 software includes a Triple-X PAD and ISO transport protocol implementation that are accessible by a feature-rich API.
FarSite is committed to supporting the FarSync X25 T-Series products on new versions of Linux as they are released.
The source code for the driver and the library for the API is supplied with the product and a comprehensive development toolkit is included.
