Fox Electronics has made a major increase in its worldwide production capacity and has significantly expanded its presence in the Asia-Pacific region

According to Fox President, EL Fox Jr, the company has added a 7300m2 production facility outside of Shanghai to its worldwide manufacturing operations, has created Fox Electronics-Asia and has appointed a managing director to expand its comprehensive sales network and establish a complete, support and logistics centre in Hong Kong.

Fox comments: "We are taking these bold steps in anticipation of what we know will be a strong market recovery.

We need to be able to respond quickly and efficiently to any surge in demand - anywhere - for our products.

The new production facility near Shanghai complements our existing design and production capabilities and will serve both international and domestic US market demand".

The three-building manufacturing complex will be able to produce the full range of Fox frequency control products - crystals, oscillators, TCXOs, VCXOs, OCXOs and filters - but will initially concentrate on Fox's popular line of surface mount oscillators in ceramic packages.

The facility can produce one million units per month.

Fox has named Stephen So as Managing Director of the newly formed Fox Electronics-Asia to further develop and oversee an expanded Fox presence in the Asian-Pacific region.

Headquartered in Hong Kong, So will integrate a complete sales and technical support operation and supply chain system to support Fox's growing customer base in the region.

So, a veteran of the Far East electronics industry, served as General Manager for Rayovac Far East in Hong Kong, and, most recently served as general manager of Bostex Electronics, Singapore.

Says Fox: "We are making a significant commitment to the Far East region, but at the same time boosting our capacity to provide the most timely and cost-efficient product to our customers, here in the USA, in Europe and elsewhere".

The Shanghai production facility officially opened on 1st August 2002.

The Hong Kong headquarters of Fox Electronics-Asia will open in October.
