Frontier Silicon is showing its complete digital TV and radio reception capability for mobile applications using T-DMB, DVB-H and DAB technologies at IBC 2005

Among the demonstrations on its stand will be its first showing of DVB-H mobile TV, following the company's announcement of its multistandard, multiband chipset development strategy for mobile TV and radio. The company's T-DMB mobile TV chipset, branded Kino, is already sampling to multiple customers planning production towards the year end.

Frontier Silicon's DVB-H technology expands its mobile TV product portfolio and the first public demonstration of this development will be showcased at IBC 2005.

Anthony Sethill, CEO of Frontier Silicon, said: 'The next 12 months will be very significant for the emerging mobile TV market, with commercial launches across Korea, USA, Japan and Europe and multiple transmission standards being used regionally due to issues of regulation, spectrum availability and installed infrastructure'.

'Frontier has invested in developing multiband/multistandard solutions - this way, our customers can support multiregion standards and reduce risks in trying to predict which standard will win out across which region'.

'This approach will drive the roll-out of mobile broadcast TV and address the deployment uncertainties facing handset manufacturers'.

Other demonstrations to appear on Frontier Silicon's stand are live Korean T-DMB compliant mobile TV reception using Frontier Silicon's Kino chipset, and the recently announced DABplus capability enabling personal-video-recorder (PVR) like capabilities on digital radio broadcasts.

The former was very successfully demonstrated at the IFA 2005 fair in Berlin.
