Larger format for touch panels
Fujitsu Components Europe has expanded its seven-wire resistive touch panel offering with the addition of a 17in (diagonal) standard product.
Fujitsu Components Europe has expanded its seven-wire resistive touch panel offering with the addition of a 17in (diagonal) standard product.
The company now offers OEMs and VARs a line of standard seven-wire touch panels ranging in size from 8.4 to 17in and down to 3.8in for the four-wire version.
The new 17in panel is targeted for man-machine interface functions in instrumentation, process controls, intelligent kiosks and other emerging applications such as electronic voting machines.
It accepts both pen and finger input, has a minimum input life of ten million operations, 80% minimum transparency and an operating temperature range of -5 to +60C.
The seven-wire technology offers a resistance that is ten times higher than four-wire touch panel technology.
Offering an alternative to five-wire resistive panels, Fujitsu's seven-wire technology uses only the stable glass layer to detect input, resulting in 1.5% linearity over the guaranteed life of the product.
Four sense lines monitor the resistance of the glass and automatically compensate for any variation caused by physical or environmental changes.
Precisely controlling the microdot height and spacing patterns, along with an airtight panel construction, prevents Newton ring formation and moire effects.
Optional optical enhancements, including transmissivity ranging from a standard 80 up to 92%, antiglare and antismudge treatments, are also available.
The 17in panel has outer dimensions measuring 294 x 369mm, its usable, active touch area measures 271 x 338mm.
The panel features 1.8mm-thick glass and weighs 516g.
The standard 17in FID-550 series touch panels are available immediately through Fujitsu Components Europe and its selected distributors.
