Compact POL convertors provide 3A

Nonisolated DC/DC convertors deliver 3A output current at power densities up to 640W/in3 and efficiencies up to 93%.

New from FDK Corp, the DK Series of nonisolated DC/DC convertors comprises three devices that deliver 3A output current at power densities up to 640W/in3 and efficiencies up to 93% The DK Series convertors provide high-efficiency, cost-effective and complete point-of-load (POL) power solutions in very small and low-profile surface-mount packages

Occupying a footprint of less than 200mm2, the DK Series convertors offer significant space savings over discrete onboard solutions at a competitive price.

Their low height of 3.4mm makes them particularly suitable for high-density racks, blade systems and low-profile consumer applications.

The DK Series convertors fit a wide range of telecomms, datacomms, computing, industrial and consumer applications where board space, cost, profile, efficiency and reliable operation in elevated temperature environments are critical.

The FPDK12S1R003PA, FPDK05S1R003PA and FPDK05S1R003PAV convertors are the first products of the DK Series, and are offered in 16.7 x 8.9 x 3.4mm SMD packages.

The FPDK12S1R003PA convertor operates from an 8.0 to 14.0V DC input and delivers 3A of output current at a tightly regulated programmable output voltage in the range of 1.0 to 6.6V DC.

The FPDK05S1R003PA and the FPDK05S1R003PAV convertors operate from 3.0-6.0 and 4.5-5.5V DC inputs, respectively, and deliver 3A of output current at a tightly regulated programmable output voltage in the range of 1.0 to 3.63V DC.

All three models feature programmable output voltage, remote on/off, overcurrent and overtemperature protection, and a power-good signal.

"The DK Series combines FDK's leading-edge assembly process and passive device technologies with its DC/DC convertor design expertise", says Dr Apurba Roy, Executive Advisor, FDK Corporation.

"These convertors provide a high efficiency, high density, and cost effective single component alternative to discrete solutions for the important 10-20W segment of the global POL market".

All DK Series products are RoHS compliant.

They are manufactured using FDK's state-of-the-art in-house manufacturing processes and systems in Japan. Request a free brochure from FDK Corp ...
