Fairchild Semiconductor has appointed Nick McGarry as Director of Worldwide EMS Sales

The EMS segment is a fast growing market, expected by analyst firm iSuppli to be worth $141 billion by 2007. McGarry will report directly to Thomas Beaver, Fairchild's Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing. "Fairchild is the number one supplier of power semiconductors worldwide, delivering advanced power components to minimise, convert, distribute and manage power to EMS segment industry leaders", said Beaver.

"Nick McGarry will drive co-ordination between our direct customers who utilise EMS services and Fairchild, leverage his considerable experience to help our EMS partners grow their businesses, and ensure that Fairchild delivers superior customer service".

"Asia Pacific is the fastest growing EMS region, projected to be more than $70 billion by 2007", continued Beaver.

"Fairchild is well positioned to serve the EMS channel there with our new state-of-the art assembly and test facility in Suzhou, China, as well as our manufacturing facilities worldwide".

EMS, also referred to as contract manufacturing services, are increasingly retained by companies across a broad range of industries including computers, consumer, communications, networking and automotive, to augment overall manufacturing capacity.

Outsourcing the manufacturing and supply chain process provides vendors with a cost-effective channel to ensure that their final products, from cell phones to plasma screen TVs to consumer appliances, are available quickly to end markets.

Power components are critical to today's electronics, and Fairchild is positioned to supply leading power products to the EMS channel.

McGarry was most recently global sales director for ON Semiconductor.

His prior experience includes senior level sales positions for Motorola and Xerox.
