Fairchild Semiconductor has been ranked the number three vendor worldwide of power supply and power management integrated circuits in 2003. According to market research firm Venture Development Corporation (VDC), the total power market exceeds $5 billion globally. The findings are part of VDC's recent study entitled, "The global market for power supply and power management integrated circuits".
In a separate survey conducted by VDC, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) identified Fairchild as a technology innovator providing excellent support for power integrated circuits.
VDC forecasts that the power supply and power management segment is expected to reach nearly $7 billion by 2006.
The firm also reports that power focused companies that sell products across many vertical markets and penetrate multiple types of applications, such as Fairchild Semiconductor, are better able to leverage the opportunity.
Fairchild's power products are sold in multiple markets such as computing, communications, consumer, industrial and automotive.
"Fairchild is focused on the fast-growing power market and our development efforts have enabled us to increase our percent of revenue from power components to more than 70% in 2003", said Kirk Pond, Fairchild's President, CEO and Chairman of the Board.
"These recent results published by VDC confirm our success in developing an extensive portfolio of advanced power and discrete products that meet our customers' requirements.
New devices such as our VRM10 compliant power solutions, green mode power switches (FPS), and advanced power mosfets are driving our leading power position towards even greater growth".
