LDO aims for CDMA handsets
Fairchild has a new 150mA LDO (low dropout) regulator with a combination of design features that optimise performance and cost in cellular phone applications, particularly CDMA
The FAN2534 regulator offers high ripple rejection over a wide frequency range, fast turn-on (150us), low noise (50uV RMS), and provides exceptional loop stability with a variety of output capacitors types. With its advanced CMOS technology, the FAN2534 is also ideally suited for wireless/RF applications and for powering such frequency-sensitive applications as PLLs (phase lock loops) and VCOs (voltage controlled oscillators).

"The FAN2534 is a natural choice for designers looking for the best combination of noise quality, battery efficiency and thermal protection in one, feature-packed CMOS regulator", said Tivadar Szabo, Manager of Ultra Portable Products in Fairchild's Power Management Group.
"Noise and ripple-sensitive products, such as popular CDMA cell phones, can achieve significant performance benefits by using this device".
The FAN2534 offers fast turn-on without overshoot, as well as a highly accurate, trimmed short-circuit current limit (300mA) to protect thin PCB interconnects.
For lower battery drain, the FAN2534 has 180mV-dropout voltage at 150mA, and it provides excellent near-dropout PSRR (power supply rejection ratio), enable/shutdown control and thermal limiting for additional system safety.
The FAN2534 is pin-for-pin compatible with competitive parts and comes in a compact SOT-23, five-lead package.
Three different output options are available for this product: adjustable, 2.6V with bypass, and 3.0V with bypass.
