Fairchild Semiconductor has won the esteemed CIO-100 award from IDG's CIO magazine. The 2002 CIO-100 award recognises organisations around the world that excel in positive business performance through integrated applications and technologies to improve products, services and relationships with partners and clients. Fairchild was acknowledged for the success of its integrated e-business programme, which enables its more than 50,000 customers, channel partners and suppliers to quickly and easily access product information and design requirements through their Customer First website.
The e-business integration also incorporated all aspects of the company's processes from manufacturing to sales, finance, human resources, customer support centres and the global help desk.
John Watkins, Fairchild's senior vice president and CIO, implemented the e-business programmes which provide necessary information to all levels of the company; ensuring the needs of Fairchild's customers are placed first and foremost.
The integrated applications provide Fairchild with the operational excellence required to deliver superior customer service.
Fairchild developed and implemented a comprehensive website with a series of built-in customer-centric applications through an intuitive user interface, including parametric and key word search, industry crossreference, online design centres and product sampling.
The integration of the Customer First website and the company's demand planning and fulfilment, inventory tracking, advanced order management, customer relationship management, dynamic precision pricing, business intelligence and decision support applications give Fairchild a fully integrated enterprise system, providing current information on demand.
"Now, more than ever, companies rely on integrated applications that freely share information", says Abbie Lundberg, Editor in Chief, CIO magazine.
"This year's CIO-100 award recipients are being honoured because their companies developed an integrated enterprise to enhance their business, from improving relationships with customers to creating a seamless value chain".
"We're very pleased that we have received recognition from the prestigious CIO magazine for our customer-oriented e-business programme", said John Watkins.
"Fairchild is a worldwide industry leader in deploying an integrated, advanced e-business programme that has resulted in improved service to our customers and partners.
Our integrated systems have enabled us to achieve our goal of making it easy to do business with Fairchild - an especially critical goal in this challenging economic environment".
