shrink to smaller packages
Fairchild Semiconductor reckons it can supply the smallest pitch QVSOP package available for high-pin-count bus switches
This 0.5mm-pitch QVSOP package provides a space-saving option for designers of portable systems, such as notebook PCs, docking stations, PDAs and portable electronics. The QVSOP package provides a wide-bit, space-saving solution for notebook PC docking interface designs, which typically require three to four bus switches totalling 80bit to isolate the motherboard before and during docking.
Using an FST 32bit bus switch in the 80-pin QVSOP package, a system designer can reduce part count by at least one device.
That parts-count reduction, in turn, reduces the amount of motherboard space consumed by the docking-station isolation circuit, reducing end-system cost.
Packaged in 80-pin QVSOPs, pricing begins at $1.20 each in quantities of 1000 for the FST34X245 32bit bus switch and the 25ohm series resistor outputs option FST34X2245.
