The award recognises and rewards Fairchild for its commitment to environmental awareness while successfully operating its business in Malaysia.
The company's commitment to the protection of the environment is driven by the deployment of '3 Rs', - reduce, reuse and recycle.
This principle has become a way of life for employees in pursuit of a "zero pollution" level in manufacturing.
Since the implementation of ISO14001 EMS (environmental management system) in 1998, the company has eliminated the use of halon for its fire protection system, reduced waste consumption by 40%, reduced water consumption by 36% and reduced energy consumption by 25%.
"We're very pleased to receive the Prime Minister's Hibiscus Award for Excellence", said Kirk Pond, Fairchild's president, CEO and chairman of the board.
"Our team in Malaysia is committed to improving the local and world environment.
It's very rewarding for all of Fairchild's employees when those actions are recognised by the government".
