Exception EMS, the Wiltshire-based fast-track assembler of PCBs and contract manufacturer of electronic equipment has appointed Sion Davies as Operations Director

Davies' appointment heralds a new era for the GBP 20 million turnover business that is adopting lean manufacturing principles to ensure it maintains its leading position in the global electronics industry. Formerly General Manager of Operations at Sony Corporation's site at Pencoed, South Wales, Davies has a strong track record of successfully implementing lean manufacturing techniques.

A six sigma black belt and a 'teambuilding' enthusiast, he specialises in creating strategies to achieve more efficient and flexible manufacturing operations.

Commenting on his appointment, Davies said the opportunity at Exception EMS was exciting.

He said: 'As more and more customers demand flexibility, the 'consolidated supply chain' becomes a key factor'.

'The market seems to be moving back from globalised manufacturing strategies to localised manufacturing strategies, giving flexibility to market demands, ensuring customer service and also reducing inventory'.

Exception Group Chief Executive, Craig Wright states: 'Sion's appointment is a continuation of our strategy to invest in the highest calibre individuals to add value to our growing business'.

'Sion also has developed significant expertise in establishing strong customer service practice from his 15 years at Sony'.

'His skills and planned process improvements at EMS will further support the excellent service EMS provides to its increasingly demanding customers'.
