European ICT prizes are up for grabs
The European ICT Prize is the most distinguished award for innovative products and services that represent the best of European innovation in information and communication technologies
In 2006, the European Information Society Technologies Prize changed its name to the European Information and Communication Technologies Prize, or the European ICT Prize. It is the most distinguished award for innovative products and services that represent the best of European innovation in ICT.

It is open for applications from now until 4th December 2006, with the results of the evaluation being announced in February 2007.
The European ICT Prize provides public recognition and a highly visible profile to innovative companies that convert novel ideas into marketable products.
The high standards of applicants and the competitive evaluation procedure make this Prize the standard reference recognising major achievements in ICT.

Prizes celebrate European innovation
The 2006 European IST Prizes have been awarded at a gala ceremony in the Hofburg Palace in Vienna
The prize is organised by Euro-Case with the sponsorship and support of the European Commission, and the theme is 'novel products with a high information technology content and evident market potential'.
The award structure provides for: 50-70 shortlisted nominees for the European ICT Prize; 20 shortlisted nominees for the European ICT Grand Prize; 20 winners, with prizes of Eur 5000 each; and three Grand Prize winners, with prizes of Eur 200,000 each.
All applications are assessed by independent experts from 16 European countries.
Euro-Case will propose prize winners to the European Commission.
An executive jury, composed of executives from 19 European countries will propose the Grand Prize winners.
The European Commission will then select up to 20 EICT prize winners and up to three Grand Prize winners, based on the technical rankings established by the expert evaluators.
The selection criteria include technical excellence, innovative content, potential market impact, capacity to generate employment, contribution to the acceptance and understanding of ICT in society, and likely social impact.
