Euroquartz has a new series of hermetically sealed surface mount crystals housed in the popular two-pad low profile package style.

The new MH2 series offers a high quality resistance-weld hermetically sealed package measuring 8.2 x 4.5mm with total height of just 1.8mm.

Competitively priced in comparison with equivalent plastic packaged crystals, the MH2 series is available in a wide range of frequencies from 8.0 to 48MHz (fundamental) and 40 to 70MHz (3rd overtone).

The new crystals also offer high shock resistance and low g sensitivity- making them suitable for use in a wide range of mass production applications including computing, microprocessor, telecommunications, portable and handheld equipment.

Three frequency adjustment levels at 25 C are available at +/-15, +/-30 or +/-50ppm with tighter tolerance crystals available to special order.

Similarly, crystals with frequency stability of +/-15, +/-30 or +/-50ppm can be supplied over the range -10 to +70C (tighter stability models available).

The MH2 package is resistance welded glass ceramic and offers a drop in replacement for a popular and widely used format.

The crystals feature shunt capacitance of 7pF, load capacitance of 8 to 32pF (typical) or series and ageing less than +/-3ppm/year at 25C.

Drive levels required range from 0.1 to 0.5mW depending on frequency while maximum equivalent series resistance (ESR) specifications are 80ohm from 8 to 10MHz, 60ohm from 10.01 to 12MHz and 50ohm from 12.01 to 48MHz (AT fundamental) and 80ohm from 40 to 70MHz (3rd overtone).

MH2 series crystals are available packaged on 16mm tape and reel with 1000 pieces per reel.

The crystals are suitable for reflow soldering at 260C for 10s maximum and feature a storage temperature range from -40 to +85C.

Solderability, vibration and shock characteristics are all tested to respective methods in MIL-STD-202F.
