Sockets and strips tolerate high temperatures
Using polymide material as an insulator gives E-tec's sockets exceptional mechanical and thermal characteristics.
The SMT socket is simply placed and reflowed onto the PCB (solder paste without silver is recommended) and the socket occupies only a small amount of additional board space.
The twist lock socket is an improvement over the original screw lock socket because the screws do not need to be fully removed when taking off the lid.
The socket is available in 0.50, 0.65, 0.75, 0.80, 1.00 and 1.27mm pitch.
One useful feature is the optional locating pegs which allow the socket to be easily aligned prior to reflow.
The socket is also available with raised SMD terminals to clear close proximity components, as well as solder tail and compression/solderless type.
Customers can simply send their BGA chip drawing and E-tec will provide drawings and costings for a suitable socket.
