i3 Micro Technology has chosen the Espial Escape browser to integrate with its line of Mood set top boxes to deliver a full range of IPTV capabilities. From simple graphical user interfaces with set up menus and controls, to complex web interactions such as Internet TV, walled garden content, plus chat and e-mail functionality, Espial's software differentiates itself from its competitors with its ease of portability. "For i3, Escape has provided a robust, quality interface with an extensibility that allows us to easily add IPTV applications, whether developed by Espial or by i3", stated Chris Chalkitis, Chief Technology Officer for i3 Micro Technology.
"Escape's easy customisation allows our customers to tailor the user interface to their unique needs".
In addition to traditional IPTV set top box applications, i3 Micro has chosen to integrate Macromedia Flash capabilities into its offering using the Espial Flash plug-in.
Licensing Flash content through Espial simplifies the process of extending the set top box capabilities, reducing both time to market and integration risk.
The Mood boxes with Espial software will be targeted at telcos deploying IP TV, with a first deployment underway at an international carrier.
"Espial is proud to be associated with an industry leader like i3, a company known for their technology and ease of implementation".
"In licensing our software, we feel we will have helped i3 continue being a leader in these areas", says Dr Neale Foster, Director of Marketing for Television for Espial.
