Elo TouchSystems has introduced a new drip-proof medical grade touchmonitor.
The 15in Entuitive LCD flat panel touchmonitor carries both UL2601 and CE MDD certifications and uses AccuTouch five-wire resistive touchscreen technology.
The innovative enclosure design, coupled with the addition of a special gasket, ensures that the entire touchmonitor sheds water and is safe from liquid drops and spills.
The drip-proof nature of this touchmonitor also provides a seal, which allows the monitor to be sterilised with hospital grade disinfectants.
As a result, this monitor can be safely placed in patient care areas, such as the operating room, where contamination may occur.
"Elo's new medical grade touchmonitor is intended for patient vicinity use in hospitals, clinics and care facilities where medical certifications are necessary", says Frank Shen, medical market manager for Elo TouchSystems.
"The latest addition to Elo's comprehensive range of 'built-for-touch' Entuitive touchmonitors, the new 1526L is a truly integrated solution for medical equipment OEMs and health care Systems Integrators seeking a reliable, durable and cost-effective medical grade touchmonitor".
The 120-degree viewing angle means that Elo's new medical touchmonitor can be set to one side, yet screen content still remains within the user's peripheral vision.
It operates at an optimal resolution of 1024 x 768 and supports resolutions of both 800 x 600 and 640 x 480 at a brightness of 170cd/m2 with the AccuTouch touchscreen in place.
In addition, a mean time between failure (MTBF) rate of more than 50,000 hours ensures that the touchmonitor can be counted on in situations where reliability and continuity are key.
The inherent durability and accuracy of the integrated AccuTouch touchscreen with the improved gasket sealing more than stands up to long term use, frequent cleaning and inevitable liquid spills.
Unlike many touchscreen technologies, AccuTouch can be activated with a gloved hand or any stylus-another critical capability for medical applications.
