A new custom design and manufacturing service for small cases aims to reduce the cost of small volumes, while offering flexibility of cutouts, material, colour, mounting and size. Customised cutouts for connectors, interfaces, fans, cooling and even displays can now be cost effective for quantities as low as 20 pieces thanks to comprehensive in-house punch and laser cutting facilities. This makes the G-box service ideal for companies developing prototypes or small runs, especially where there is no in-house metal manufacturing capacity.

G-boxes can be supplied in any size, and in any RAL colour, to suit individual project requirements.

All types offer ease of assembly and low parts count.

Even low volume automation and embedded system applications can now be designed without standard boxes, enabling a stronger corporate image, whether a desktop, wall mount or C-rail mount is needed.

As with all Elma products, quality is built-in by the company's ISO9001:2000 approved design processes.

G-boxes can be made from steel, galvanised steel, chrome steel, aluminium or plastic coated aluminium.

Elma's in-house galvanic equipment enables additional EMC protection to be provided with Alodine treatment, and aluminium anodising is offered as standard in red, yellow, blue, black or clear finish.

Sheet metal can be finished with silk screening, galvanising, painting, powder coating or chromating or a combination thereof.

In addition to the usual connector, switch and indicator mounting cutouts, individual requirements such as ventilation perforations, fan and even TFT screen cutouts can easily be included, thanks to the company's laser cutting capacity.

Special requirements such as EMC, IP protection or corrosion resistance are also supported.

The G-box service builds on Elma's established custom design services for larger enclosures, subracks and panels, bringing Elma's proven specialist experience to the small enclosure sector.

In addition to the enclosure itself, the G-box service can also include custom panels and full mounting hardware to simplify system-level kitting.
