Donati commented: 'It is a real honour to accept this award on behalf of the Elgar employees who work very hard to provide the highest quality and most technologically advanced space power ground support equipment available'.
'It is also a pleasure to be associated with JPL and some of the most astounding projects there are'.
'It's really humbling when you think about it'.
Elgar Electronics provided a solar array simulator (SAS) and a battery string simulator (BSS) used by JPL/NASA as a power subsystem for the Mars Rovers during testing.
The equipment was used to simulate different time and power ratings as well as different operating regimes such as day and night.
It gave JPL the dynamic control over inputting minimum and maximum power into the system.
Elgar's products accelerated the satellite development and validation process by easily simulating complex power system interactions and phenomena.
Elgar Electronics has supported many NASA programmes including, in addition to the Mars Exploration Rovers (MER), Prometheus, Dawn, SIM PlanetQuest, Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) and the Deep Space Network (DSN).
