The organiser of this year's UK Embedded Systems Show (London 15th to 16th May) has revealed an extensive conference programme that promises two full days of papers, tutorials and seminars majoring on many of today's key embedded technology issues. More than 60 manufacturers and suppliers of embedded products and systems have reserved space at the exhibition which, as in 2001, will be held at the ExCeL centre in London's Docklands. Tickets for the show and copies of the conference programme are to be widely circulated during the next four weeks and preregistration for both the exhibition and the conference are available at the EDA Exhibitions website.

The delegate cost for the conference is just GBP 75 plus VAT and includes entry to any session on both days of the conference, a CD-ROM of the entire proceedings and special discounts on books brought from www.it-minds.com Delegates also get the chance to win one of 10 copies of Michael Pont's Embedded C.

"We've worked very hard this year to increase, yet again, the technical content and overall quality of the ESS conference programme", says show director Jeremy Kenyon.

"The 2002 event boasts a formidable array of presenters, many of whom are directly responsible for developing processors and tools for embedded systems and many are also key contributors to the all-important standardisation initiatives that will ensure future productivity".

Kenyon adds.

Highlights of the conference programme include: a full day on SoCs from design to verification; a dedicated track on portable systems; high speed data transfer - emerging standards explained; Internet appliances, Linux and many more topics.

At ESS 2002, all aspects of UML 2.0 that are relevant to embedded and real-time systems will be covered and a highlight will be a panel session featuring the technical chiefs of the world's leading UML tool vendors.

This is designed to introduce delegates to the key figures driving the technical specifications and to give members of the audience a chance to voice their own issues and highlight their particular "wishlists".

Under the chairmanship of Andrew Watson, VP and Technical Director of the Object Management Group, panellists include Chris Kobryn, Telelogic's Chief Technologist and Co-Chairman of the UML Revision Task Force; Bruce Powell Douglass, Chief Evangelist for I-Logix; Alan Moore, VP of Product Strategy for Artisan Software Tools; and Steve Mellor, Founder and Vice President of Project Technology.

Other topics at ESS include: developing high-reliability software, Internet appliances, Embedded Linux, DSP, real-time operating systems, microcontrollers, debugging, networks, and a management track covering issues such as, embedded software market reports, to obtaining start-up funding and selecting the right operating system.
