Ember Corporation has announced the general availability of the EmberNet Wireless Modbus Adapter (WMA). Available in a selection of packaging and interfaces that can be 'mixed and matched', the EmberNet WMA frees organisations from the need to hardwire Modbus equipment into the network, regardless of the quality of the radio frequency (RF) environment. 'Modbus has become a de facto industry standard due to its openness, simplicity, low cost of development and minimal hardware requirements', said Adrian Tuck, Executive Vice President of Ember.

'The EmberNet Wireless Modbus Adapter is a natural extension to the EmberNet Product Suite as we continue to set the standard for embedded wireless mesh networking'.

EmberNet WMA is available for the 900MHz band in the USA and the 2.4GHz band globally.

The solution is available in both commercial and NEMA 4-compliant packaging for industrial and outdoor applications.

The NEMA 4 packaging protects against outdoor elements including dust, dirt and water, and will be undamaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosure.

EmberNet WMA is available with a RS232 or RS485 interface.

EmberNet products use a patented routing algorithm that establishes a mesh networking architecture, creating extremely resilient, self-organising and self-healing networks, with very low power requirements and no single point of failure.

Well-suited for industrial, defense and building automation environments and applications, EmberNet devices automatically route traffic around the typical interference found in harsh industrial and building settings, resulting in increased flexibility in installation, maintenance and operation.

The EmberNet WMA provides wireless interconnection to existing Modbus equipment and provides an ideal choice for organisations exploring the advantages of mesh networking and for OEMs designing wireless into their products.
