Argosy stars in mains distribution unit sales

Deltron-Emcon has presented Argosy-Cable Warehouse with a special gold award to acknowledge its outstanding sales of Media MDU12L mains distribution units.

Argosy, whhich is based in Long Crendon, Buckinghamshire, co-operated with Deltron-Emcon in the MDU12L's design process two years ago and, in the first year following its introduction on the broadcasting, professional audio and video markets, doubled the preceding MDU sales figures.

The company then achieved a further 100% year-on-year increase in 2004.

The 12-way MDU12L mains distribution unit benefits from several design improvements including integrated circuitry in place of the previous hard wiring and a one-piece back panel fabrication, all resulting in a 15% saving in costs to the customer, as compared with Deltron's preceding MDU.

Easily installed in standard equipment racking, the MDU12L takes a 16A mains power input and distributes up to 6A through each of its 12 socket outlets to connected equipment such as video tape recorders (VTRs) and other media devices.

Red and green LEDs on the MDU's front panel indicate whether or not outputs are active and a sequential switching version is available providing a small delay between each output going live or shutting off thereby protecting against possible power surges when the distribution unit is turned on or off.

A novel feature of the unit is a 16A output on the back panel enabling connection in series to another 12-way MDU, which reduces the number of mains outlets required in multiple equipment installations.

Accepting the award with sales director Bob Clark, Argosy Managing Director, Ken Eckardt said: "The MDU12L has proved to be very popular with our existing customers in the broadcasting industry and is helping win many new ones".
