Sophia Systems has released its Gold reference board support package (BSP) based on Microsoft Windows CE 5.0, for the Sandgate II development platforms running the Intel PXA270 processor and Intel 2700G multimedia accelerator.

For developers of handheld and/or multimedia devices based on Windows CE 5.0 and the Intel PXA270 processor, Sophia's Sandgate II development platforms make great reference designs and can even be used as an actual design base for the device.

The Gold release BSP for Windows CE 5.0 is now available for the Sandgate II DVK (based on Intel PXA270 processor) and the BSP for the Sandgate II-G DVK to follow within the month (based on the Intel PXA270 processor with the Intel 2700G multimedia accelerator).

Both Sandgate II development platforms enable engineers to develop the software at the same time as the hardware is being developed, greatly reducing the overall development time.

In addition, the combination of Sandgate II boards and Sophia's EJ-Debug JTAG emulator for Intel PXA270 provides on-chip debugging capability the combination with Microsoft's Platform Builder brings a wide range of powerful debugging capabilities to Windows CE developers.

'We are always happy to offer total development solutions for developers and to support strategic partners, Intel and Microsoft'.

'With the addition of Windows CE 5.0 BSP to compliment the Sandgate II-G development system, our customers will have more options available to accelerate their time to market with products based on Intel PXA270 processor and Intel 2700G multimedia accelerator'.
