Lean programme slashes
filter connector lead-times
Deutsch has reduced lead-times on repeat orders for its filter products to 12 weeks, marking its ongoing commitment to major new programmes
Deutsch, a leading interconnect solution provider, has reduced lead-times on repeat orders for its filter products to 12 weeks, marking its ongoing commitment to major new programmes such as the Lockheed Martin Joint Strike Fighter, Boeing 787 and Airbus A380. During the past 18 months, Deutsch has been implementing a lean enterprise system, similar to that being adopted by the top aerospace primes.

Autosport connectors double the density
Double density autosport connectors bring benefits of space and weight, both highly prized when packaging is such an issue on the modern racing car
One benefit of this system is that Deutsch can beat current industry filter lead-times, which are often in excess of 20-22 weeks, by almost half.
Andy Gibb, Product Marketing Manager, explains 'The 12 week lead-time is a significant step forward, but this is only the beginning'.
'Our lean programme continues and we already have several projects underway which aggressively target further significant reductions'.
'We expect to be able to pass these on to our customers later this year'.
The lean enterprise system has also helped to ensure that Deutsch's delivery times are not compromised by implementing measures which resolve the historic causes of late deliveries.
'These measures are working well'.
'Our filter connector DOTIF stats are now at their highest ever, but we're still not satisfied'.
'We want to always give our customers what they want, when they want it'.
'It is key that these improvements are sustainable, and our measures have addressed this'.
'All stages of filter connector manufacture are as versatile as possible, and we continually monitor load in advance to ensure all resources are aligned to our order book'.
Further projects are already in progress to reduce other lead-times, and Deutsch will soon be announcing new product lead-times that set a new standard for the filter connector industry.
