DEK has added large 29" x 29" foils to its range of VectorGuard stencils, allowing customers to reduce changeover time and ease stencil handling and storage challenges in applications requiring a large image area. These include telecom and computing backplanes and specialist large format products.
Large format VectorGuard foils are currently available in popular thicknesses, including 0.005" (0.127mm) and 0.006"(0.152mm).
All of DEKs global stencil manufacturing sites are equipped to laser cut the new 29x29 VectorGuard foils from blanks manufactured in Germany, and are able to offer equivalent delivery times to existing VectorGuard and standard mesh mounted stencils.
Customers can also use the 29x29 frameless system in machines that do not have an adjustable chase, including non-DEK machines, or where they prefer not to use side bar extensions.

The 29x29 system then becomes a straight swap for their existing framed foils.
The VectorGuard system is easy to adopt.
A customer only needs to invest in the frame, which comes complete with a foot pedal to control the air supply during mounting, and the foils themselves.
Significant investment by DEK to research and develop VectorGuard has made this large frameless foil and tensioning system possible.
In particular, VectorGuards extruded aluminum edges and plastic corners add rigidity and streamline frame mounting and tensioning, making larger foils feasible.
Bringing all the advantages of the standard size VectorGuard stencils, the new 29x29 frameless system is easy to handle on the shop floor, requires investment only in the VectorGuard frame and foils, and is easily stored in the VectorGuard stencil cabinet providing storage for up to 60 foils.
The cabinet is available separately from DEK.
The plastic corners and aluminum edges are also easily separated from the steel foil after use, allowing each material to be recycled.
This allows manufacturers to meet environmental targets at the same time as gaining important operational efficiency advantages.
