Weymouth-based DEK has received the Business In The Community Award, part of the Dorset Business Awards 2002

The scheme is open to all businesses in Dorset, and DEK received the award for its long-term support of community projects, including spending time working with various local organisations, as well as providing financial assistance through donations and fund raising activities. Organisations supported by DEK include Budmouth Sports Centre, the Weymouth Tornadoes Swimming Club, several community workgroups, the local Young Enterprise scheme, Bournemouth University, and the activities of its own Sports and Social Club Charity.

Accepting the award, DEK's Chairman John Knowles said, "Businesses have a very important role to play in developing our local communities, by assisting social programmes and by highlighting opportunities for personal and career development.

The Business In The Community Award raises awareness of this important facet of business life, and I would like to thank all those at DEK who continue to work hard on behalf of the many good causes in and around Weymouth".
